In The Beginning

In the late 70's four to six couples with their exotic birds started meeting monthly in rotating living rooms to share their experiences. As more people showed an interest, The Parrot Club of Manitoba was formed. The main agenda then was to draw up a formal Constitution. With many changes and additions, it is still used today and one of the main goals remains the same:

TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC IN THE PROPER CARE OF PARROTS BY DISPLAYING THEM.

In May, 2007, our executive arranged for a new meeting place. We now hold our monthly meetings on the 3rd Friday of each month at St. Alphonsus Parish Hall, 341 Munroe Ave at 7:30 p.m. We have two events annually in lieu of meetings - in June, a potluck BBQ and in December, our Christmas party.

Our meetings are informal and all visitors are welcome. We have a website at http://www.parrotclubofman.ca and can be reached by e-mail at info@parrotclubofman.ca or by phone at (204) 942-2993.

We participate in visits to nursing homes, hospitals, schools, daycares, etc., which can be arranged by contacting the club. We travel annually outside the city to either the Portage la Prairie Mall or the Steinbach mall in September. In March we participate in the Snowbird Beach Days at Oak Hammock Marsh Interpretive Centre. In this way, we strive to uphold the goals as laid down
. . . . in the beginning.
